Fantasy League Rosters
by Jon ~ February 11th, 2009 at 12:05 am
To our non-fantasy players: We’ll be back to our regular programming shortly!
Once again, thank you to everyone for the quick response on the BBT fantasy baseball leagues. I didn’t expect to fill two teams within just a few hours!
Here are the provisional rosters for the two leagues. Anyone that made a specification as to which league they wanted to be in I tried to accommodate them. As for the rest of you, I did my best. If you would rather be in the other league, maybe try and trade with someone in the comments thread.

I’ll update the reserves list as I need to.
All invitations have been sent. If you do not accept them by Thursday morning you will be swapped with someone from the reserve list.
These lists will not be final until play actual starts, even after you accept the invitation and get into the league screen. If it makes sense to take a few managers from the first two teams and transfer them to a 3rd team I may do it (I’ll ask for volunteers first).
Use this thread to discuss scoring and settings. It is very much open to debate, but this is how both leagues look to be set up right now:
Stat Categories (7×7):
Hitters: R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP, SLG
Pitchers: W, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP, QS
Positions:
C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UT, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL
Minimum IP for your pitchers is set at 20 IP. Weekly transaction limit is set at 10. No “can’t cut list” (please do not abuse this). Waiver period is 2 days. Commish approves trades. For other rules check it out yourself on the league page when you gain access.
These will be live drafts (and given the depth of the leagues they’re gonna take quite a while, maybe 2-3 hours). Currently the H2H draft is set for Sunday March 22 at 10 am, while the Roto draft is Sunday March 15 at 10 am. I’d love to keep these dates, but we’re trying to balance a lot of schedules so I’m expecting there to be some objections. We’ll do our best to work it out.
For the four rookie players, don’t worry if you don’t get what’s going on just yet. You’ll be fine! Just remember, Google is your friend, and feel free to post any questions you might have. There ought to be someone nice enough to help out the competition!

I would rather have 2 DL spots, because I always have a ton of players who get hurt.
Also I assume you are going by west coast times right.

Everything sounds good and I definitely want to offer my kudos for the live drafts… (I can’t say I’m a big fan of those AutoPick drafts)
Now, I don’t want to sound picky or anything, and I promise you I’m in fact very honored to have been given a fantasy spot at all, but if there’s anyone who would prefer swapping a H2H spot for my Rotisserie spot… well lets just say I wouldn’t exactly refrain from completing such a trade…

In the rotisserie: HLD is hold right? And what is QS? Sorry I’m not sure about these I usually do standard 5*5.
Also what are the ideas for prizes so far?

Adam – Sorry about that.. we’ll try and figure a way to get you into the H2H. In the mean time just sit tight and we’ll see who accepts their invites.
GTown – HLD is hold, QS is quality start.
Not sure on the prizes just yet, but don’t get your hopes up. Remember all costs for prizes are coming straight out of my pocket, so it’s not going to be Diamond Club tickets or anything like that. It will be something more for ceremonial purposes than an actual prize. (You can compete at Razzball.com for $500 worth of Taco Bell coupons or something like that.. HA)
I’ll try to figure something out before the drafts come around.

Another thing; could you change the max innings and games played in the rotisserie to an actual maximum? I was in a league that had no maximum last year in CBS and it completely took the integrity out of the game. It turned into whoever made the most daily transactions won the league, not who made the best draft picks and transactions.

So the H2H draft is at 10 now that might be a little tricky it would’ve been easier for me at least to do it during the evening like 6-ish or why not give Saturday a shot unless someone else has any conflicts with that…

I have to agree with Slurve! Is there anyway we could do it in the evening on Sunday or Sat. evening. I am always slammed on Sunday Mornings!!

So Slurve, bill and Dustin are all having trouble Sunday morning for the drafts.
Sunday evening? Saturday? Weeknight?

I don’t begrudge anyone being into fantasy baseball…but for those of us that are not into it, please remember there are few things less boring than reading/listening to someone’s recap of their fantasy team’s results. Hopefully the topics (after you’re organized of course) remain on actual baseball.
Jon S.,
Glad to see your site taking off…I enjoy reading your takes.

May I be put on the reserve list.
Thanks,

Thanks for the reserve spot. I should be good for any weekend (fri-sun) draft times (morning, afternoon, night) fyi. I’m just a fulltime student at the moment so class times during the week (mon-thur) would be my only trouble.

Since I’m in the Central Time Zone, I’ll be at lunch at the beginning of the draft if it’s at 10 a.m. pacific time. That’s not a huge deal though, I’m pretty sure I can pre-rank players so that i don’t get stuck with someone i really dislike. I’ll log on as fast as possible to make sure i’m in the know. If there are no other objections, I’m fine sacrificing a few picks…

Jon, firstly I just want to say that I appreciate you trying to fit me into the H2H league…
Now about the draft times, I have no problems with the 10 a.m. saturday or sunday times since that would mean a 7 p.m. start for me over here in Sweden. Now the evening draft times, on the other hand, could become a bit of an issue seeing as I don’t know how willing I would be to get up at 3 or 4 in the morning to start a 2-3 hour drafting process…
I just wanted to let you know about my situation over here, and hopefully you can take that information into account when making your final decision.

Please do not have the roto draft on a weeknight because I am a high school student and I live on the East Coast so when I have to go to bed it would only be 7:00 PM your time.

What if I move both of them to Saturday morning at the same time?
(and yes, times are Pacific)

I will likely have the same issue of being at lunch, but i should be able to get online much earlier than on sunday so that works for me.
