Now that the Mariners have signed Bedard, I wonder if they will still try to acquire another pitcher? Bedard is anything but a sure thing this year and Wash has been mentioned many times.

However, if they decide they have enough starting pitching, I wonder if Jack Z will just bank what should be left over in the budget and save it for a possible trade mid-season? Or, will they invest the money in international academies or international signings. The FO is now in the Dominican Republic opening up an academy. Giving more money to Bob Engle is never a bad thing.

If the M’s go with the 6-man bullpen that is expected, it’s hard to imagine Texeira making the team. Best case (for the M’s, not him) is that he gets hurt in ST and they can store him on the DL and rehab him all year like they did with Sean White a few years back.

I would think Feierabend would pass through easily coming off the injury.

I ‘m not a fan of rule V guys but I guess you have to at least give Texeirra a look??? Or not.

Good write up! Pretty stoked to see Bedard come back.. and it could be right around my birthday.. (july 9) that will be a pretty darn good present
