I have always loved Erik Bedard and I'm looking forward to see if he signs. His stay at Seattle will be tainted due to the trade but here's to Bedard rewriting a new name for himself here. Bon Courage!

Well both him and Brian Sabean both seem to be pretty delusional so a move to SF isn't completely out of order.

Wow, could you imagine a better GM/beat reporter duo in America that perptually gets it wrong. It makes me completely excited for this very fantasy pairing to happen.

I know you love Bedard. But, I'm really hesitant with bringing him back. I feel so much negativity by fans because of the deal he was a part of.

I like how Mike Snow said it on USS:M "I’ve never had a negative perception of Bedard. I have a negative perception of what Bavasi gave up to get Bedard"

Unfortunately too many fans mash the line that seperates the two together. I think he's a great pitcher and if he's healthy come July this is better than most any trades scenerios I could make up.

If we were to see the sun and get into the play-offs (HUGE, HUGE IF). We could have the best pitching core in baseball. From King Felix!, Lee, and Bedard to Aardsma, League and Lowe. Absloutely gross.

Best of luck to Bedard on round two in the Emerald City.

Love it. I've heard Bedard could be back by May, and even if he isn't back until June or July, it would be tantamount to adding a top flight starter via trade. If the Mariners are close in the West around the deadline (and I anticipate that we will be), Bedard could make all the difference in the West...and if we manage to make the playoffs, with a front 3 of Felix/Lee/Bedard, anything could happen.

I think the M's are the only team that would do this right now because they know his medical history better than any other team and they've continued to work with him and monitor his progress.

I like the signing even if he's not ready until June. I look at it like an in season trade for a good pitcher and the M's take on his salary. I wouldn't mind if they also signed Wang to the same type of deal. They're both risky signings, but could pay off big time. Plus the number 3, 4 and 5 Starters know if they're not performing they'll be replaced.

I'd rather see the M's trade J-Lo for Nick Blackburn and save the 1.5M with some additional cash to sign Orlando Hudson. Just some thoughts

Street needs to retire, or at least cover a different team. So far this year, he has stated that Shelton had a shot of breaking camp with the Mariners (forgetting that Shelton signed a minor-league deal with Houston), as well stating that he expects Liddi to have a "monster" year. Dude is so totally inept, he seems more suited for writing articles in the Home and Garden section of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Could be interesting news...cracked up at the one comment on the story was, "retire you old hack". Street's mailbag posts are always good for a larf.

Bedard when on the mound is awesome, but damn if he isn't a Bull Pen killer. I think he does want to be in Seattle.

Even though it's just a rumor, I'd happy to re-sign Bedard for $1.5 million and incentives. He'd be out for the first part of the seaon but if/when he gets healthy Bedard could do some damage in the second half which would really help out in the playoffs. a Felix, Lee, (healthy) Bedard should beat out any other teams playoff rotation.

Last season didn't Bedard say he'd be willing to re-sign with the Mariners? Seems like a "medium risk high reward" type signing. But again it's a rumor. I just read Jim Street's article and I don't see any sources or hard facts.
