Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Before

Headline: Rangers still determining Feliz’s role

Manager Ron Washington prefers phenom Neftali Feliz as a future closer.  “”There’s no substitute for a guy who can shut a ballgame down.”

Pitching coach Mike Maddux has a better idea what’s going on.  “”There are more closers out there than aces.”

Feliz would like to make the team in any capacity as any young player looking for a pay raise and better accommodations would.

For the sake of our Seattle Mariners, obviously we’d like to see Feliz get stuck in the bullpen.  For the sake of baseball, please don’t be an idiot, Ron.

    “Heart” = “Heard”?

I really really hope they keep him in the pen.

Ahh! Title typos are the worst!

Well, look at it this way – I’m sure there will be a spot for him on the Jays’ roster later on… :/

I don’t care how great his potential is … I hope he is traded out of the division or he’s stuck in the bullpen.

I like the “traded out of the division” route.

If by ‘traded out of the division’ you mean ‘traded to the Mariners’, then yeah, I love that idea :)

I’m not as high on Feliz’s impact in the rotation as others. I think Holland profiles better as a SP.

That said, I hope he gets stuck in the bullpen. :-)

I like Holland a lot as well, but you’ve got to give Feliz a chance (if you’re running the team, rather than rooting against them).

Also, I have Feliz in a keeper with minor league rosters, so there is a part of me that wants him to succeed (just not against Seattle)!

Ya, you’ve got to give him a shot.

Closer prospects are infinitely easier to come by.

Oh please please please. Ron, you know those last three outs are truly the hardest. You can’t leave that job to just anyone. You need the #9 prospect in baseball closing it down. For his whole career.

Always nice when these sneak through.
