Blundering Bryan LaHair

Back in December, after the signing of Russell Branyan, first baseman Bryan LaHair added his name to the list of potential starting left fielders:
“I’d been an outfielder my whole life. Left field is like my second home,” LaHair said last week before a workout at the Mariners’ training complex in Peoria, Ariz. “First base is my home now, but if you gave me two weeks in left field, I would be ready to play there.”
Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta, today:
Bryan LaHair took a rather eventful route to a long and high fly ball off the bat of Josh Hamilton, then fell down after it landed, allowing a run to score and Hamilton to get to third.
Most of us thought that LaHair would be a roster casualty once Ken Griffey was added to the roster. He survived, but for how much longer? Chances are he’ll eventually be DFA’d, as several non-roster invitees have been impressing early. I guess he’s just a spare “outfielder” until the likes of Ichiro, Endy Chavez, Greg Halman and whoever else return from the World Baseball Classic.
