Putz is Back; Bedard to Start Saturday

Obviously I’m a little late on this, especially considering J.J. Putz just came in and blew away the Orioles for his second save of the year, but I was working on the new site all evening.  Anyway, Putz was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list before tonight’s ballgame, as expected, and R.A. Dickey was the unfortunate odd man out and was optioned to AAA Tacoma.  Dickey was pitched well at times, but gave up five earned runs over his seven innings with Seattle this season.

The reason Dickey was optioned rather than a guy like Roy Corcoran or Mark Lowe was because Erik Bedard is set to start on Saturday, April 26 against the Athletics, meaning Dickey won’t need to make another start.

Why the team is still holding onto Cha-Seung Baek, no one knows.  He’s only pitched twice this year and has been horrible.  He hasn’t made an appearance since April 13th.  I’m guessing Seattle has been trying to trade him, but I think it may be time to designate him for assignment.  Dickey is more qualified for the job, and it’s time he gets it full-time.

    Sure is.

Putz had me worried there against the first batter. But now we can go back to being spoiled and assuming we have a win after 8 innings. =)
