Chris Burke Returned

Chris Burke, acquired from the San Diego Padres just before the season started as an insurance policy at multiple positions, has been sent back to San Diego to assume their backup shortstop vacancy.
Terms of the deal have not been made public as far as I know, but chances are that the Padres just returned the money Seattle used to acquire him in the first place, or something else equally unexciting.

The M’s must be doing right by a veteran player, on their AAA squad here, because with them so thin in middle infield options, he seemed like a keeper. But San Diego probably will probably bring him back to the bigs, and in that case it was the right thing to do. I see the M’s resigned Quiroz, good for the Rainiers, but of little meaning for the Mariners. I do wonder if Chris Woodward might be in line for another shot at the majors with the Mariners, if they open a spot for him, he could add a little veteran depth.
