Rosenthal Suggests Delgado for Sexson

…in this video.

It’s an interesting proposition.  Seattle has been interested in Carlos Delgado in the past, and his left handed bat would fit nicely into the lineup and Safeco Field, but I’m not sure such a deal would be in Seattle’s best interest.

While Delgado strikes out slightly less and is hitting for a better average, Richie Sexson has been the more productive player this season; more homers, RBI and a much better OPS+.  Sexson is even walking more, despite Delgado being a walk machine earlier in his career.

Either way, I don’t see GM Bill Bavasi pursuing such a deal.  The upside, in my opinion, is insignificant enough to keep the Mariners from bothering with it.  The Mets might be interested, though.  Sexson, as I mentioned, has been the more productive player, and a return to the National League would only boost his output.

really just not worth making a move from pretty much the same player

it would be an upgrade but not big enough to justify this trade. if youre going to go after someone, make sure its worth it.

sexson has been unproductive, yes, but he’s somewhat of fan favorite and a positive guy to have in the clubhouse.

I’m cool with it. That’s about it.
