Felix Hernandez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to his collision with Carlos Beltran in New York. He will be available on July 9th at the earliest.

This move wasn’t made because Felix’s injury turned out worse than expected, but mainly because the team is in desperate need of some arms. Cesar Jimenez has been called up to take the King’s roster spot.

I’m eager to see what Jimenez can do. He has shown some good stuff from time to time in recent years, especially since becoming a full time reliever. If you recall, he was in competition with Eric O’Flaherty and Arthur Rhodes during Spring Training for the lefty specialist role in the ‘pen.
