Bedard to Resume Throwing

by ~ June 19th, 2009 at 4:24 pm

Geoff Baker reports that Erik Bedard’s MRI came back clean and he’ll begin throwing again once the dye in his shoulder clears out.  He’s scheduled to go against the Yankees in a week and a half.

I’m skeptical of his health, but we’ll see how this plays out.

how serious is Endy Chavez’s injury?

Is that the same shoulder he had surgery on? What him have a start on the trade deadline, then he gets hurt again and the trade value is dead. (thats if we want to trade him)

Chavez likely has ligament damage to his knee. There’s a very good chance he’s done for the year.

I think Rob is right. The way his knee bent I am thinking hyperextension if he’s very, very lucky. I feel really bad for the guy because really his only asset is speed, and I have a bad feeling he’ll never get back to where he was before.

    So Saunders?

And guess what everybody Tanner Scheppers is broken yay!

Call up the all star outfielder Brain Lahair. hahaha

    1) I’m thinking that it was a knee injury, from how he was pointing to his knee and in obvious pain when the trainer felt around his knee.

    2) @ Slurve: I’d still have drafted Scheppers at #33. BPA (from everything I read, he was the BPA at the time of pick) and we could use some quality starting arms in the system.

    3) A crappy way for Michael Saunders to get a call-up, but I pretty much expect it now.

    Re: Saunders

The only reason Saunders hasn’t been up to this point is because he’s still building up his arm strength from the surgery he had last season. Before surgery he had an above average arm and he’s a long way from that. He’s getting to the point now that he has at least an average arm for a left fielder so there’s a fair chance they’ll give him a shot.

    Re: Scheppers

I read a few days ago that many teams thought he has a labrum tear while others (like the Rangers) didn’t. I haven’t seen anything difinitive though. What are you referring to, Slurve?

And as far as being BPA at #33– he was BPA at #3, possibly even #2, injury and money questions aside.

    Re: Endy’s injury

They’re thinking ligament damage. He’ll be gone a while.

The draft board that I saw had him at the 9th best player available from the start of the draft, and I think the 3rd best arm (if I remember right).

They’re obviously going to vary from team to team and person to person, so that’s very possible.

No one questioned his talent everyone questioned his ability to stay healthy.
