Bedard Talks On Philly Radio
by Rob T. ~ July 8th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
This is something that I have never seen before. As Geoff Baker points out Erik Bedard went on ESPN radio in Philadelphia and gave an interview. This adds fuel to the fire of the Phillies wanting him. Bedard even sounded like he wanted to be traded as you can listen to his interview here. Bedard also complained that the media makes him out to be a bad person. The radio host was basically begging Bedard to come to the Phillies and Bedard never actually said no and said he would love to play for a contender. In my entire life I have never heard of a player on another team giving an interview on the radio of a team that is rumored to be interested in trading for him.

what a world class jackass
I am just baffled that Bavasi could read this team as close to contending this year and trade all the talent he did for a guy with this crappy of an attitude and drive to be here.
Giving up 5 guys without signing a guy to an extension or asking his willingnes to be around is just stupid.

I doubt we get 25 cents on the dollar for Bedard at this point.

Screw trading him, we can no longer get enough back for him….Lets demote him to the bullpen for mop up work whenever we get blown out just to piss him off….
Let’s translate:
“I know now. I don’t really pay attention to that media stuff.” = Come on now, would I really be talking to you if I didn’t know the Phillies were interested? Do you think this is just a GIANT COINCIDENCE?
“I’m just throwing too many pitches” = I now refuse to throw more than 100 pitches in a game. His last 5 pitch counts: 99, 94, 36, 99, 99, 76.
“I’ve never had a problem with teammates.” = How could I have a problem with my Mariner teammates, I never talk to them and am around them as little as possible.
“If it happens I’ll be glad to go where they send me.” = Good God I can’t wait to get out of Seattle. Is Toronto interested? I wanna go home. I miss my mommy, she used to ice my arm after the game and make me creme brulee.
“I’m happy where I am.” = I’m miserable but the Mariners seem to bend at my every demand right now. And right now I demand to throw 100 pitches or less in each game.
