Dude...Ichiro in his prime was 3.6 seconds...3.4 second is speed comparable to the young Rickey Henderson...forget about Ichiro...that's absolutely BLAZING speed. That kind of speed would allow him to steal bases in bunches even if he weren't a particularly smart baserunner. Still, between advanced metrics, free agency rules, supplemental drafts and collective bargaining agreements I'd say the national pastime loses a lot of casual fans that can't keep up with all of that stuff.
