Shelton to be Called Up (UPDATE)

Ryan Divish has updated his post over at the News Tribune blog with news that Chris Shelton is on his way up to Seattle after getting pulled in the 9th.

Welcome to Seattle, Chris.

Shelton will fill Mike Sweeney’s non-cheerleader position and get playing time whenever Ken Griffey or Russell Branyan need a day off.

No word yet on who goes down, but Jason Vargas is the logical choice.

How does this effect Shelton’s AAA All Star standing?

UPDATE: Jason Vargas was indeed optioned down, according to FanHouse.

    Something tells me Shelton would rather warm the bench in Seattle than be a AAA all-star. :)

    If Shelton hits the M’s will have to keep him, but I hope they find a way to keep Sweeny around the clubhouse without activating him. He seems to be good for the team as long as he’s not on the field.
