In Seattle Mariners history…

  • Ichiro ranks 4th in games played, between Jay Buhner and Dan Wilson.
  • Ichiro ranks 3rd in at bats, between Ken Griffey Jr. and Buhner.
  • Ichiro ranks 3rd in runs scored, between Griffey and Buhner.
  • Ichiro ranks 2nd in hits, between Edgar Martinez and Griffey.
  • Ichiro ranks 4th in doubles, between Buhner and Alvin Davis.
  • Ichiro ranks 1st in triples, ahead of Harold Reynolds.
  • Ichiro ranks 15th in home runs, between Mike Cameron and Dave Henderson.
  • Ichiro ranks 9th in runs batted in, between Dan Wilson and Jason Jim Presley.
  • Ichiro ranks 3rd in total bases, between Griffey and Buhner.
  • Ichiro ranks 6th in walks, between John Olerud and Reynolds.
  • Ichiro ranks 1st in stolen bases, ahead of Julio Cruz.
  • Ichiro ranks 6th in OBP, between Davis and Griffey.
  • Ichiro ranks 20th in SLG, between Olerud and Henderson.
  • Ichiro ranks 1st in batting average, ahead of Martinez.
  • Ichiro ranks 2nd in intentional walks, between Griffey and Martinez.

With all the talk of Derek Jeter coming up on Lou Gehrig’s New York Yankees hit record, I was curious to see where Ichiro ranked in the Mariner record books.

Ichiro has 248 to go until he passes Edgar Martinez for the franchise lead in hits, meaning he could reach the milestone by this time next season.

I think you meant to say Jim Presley.

^Whoops you’re right! When I typed that I was thinking “Jason Presley.. that doesn’t sound quite right,” but went with it.

No problem, I hope that I didn’t sound snotty. What’s funny is that when I saw it, I was wondering if you were thinking Jason Priestley of 90210 fame.

Not snotty at all. Perhaps I did have 90210 on the brain…

That’s funny! I keep having a problem with writing “Jason Stark” rather than “Denny Stark” when I did my minor league updates :) Good thing I spend a little time proofreading or else everyone would have seen that pretty routinely!

Hard not to feel that Ichiro will be #1 in just about all the one’s he is in the top 10 in by the time he’s done (all of the accumulative stats that is).
