The more I think about it the less likely I think the Brewers would bite on a Washburn/Lopez/Putz trade. I keep forgetting that Washburn isn't good. ;)

Maybe the Beltre/Putz/Washburn for Hardy/Nelson that USSM posted a while back is more realistic, though I hate to think of trading Beltre.

Its possible Betnacourt does hurt the trade. Brew Crew could always use him as a second basemen.

^I have thought about the possibility of Weeks being in a deal, but I think Betancourt only adds negative value to that trade.

I would just as soon swap middle infields. Brew Crew gets Lopez, Betancourt, Washburn and Putz

Mariners gets Hardy, Weeks, Nelson.

Do it Zduriencik ;)

I obviously don't know what Doug Melvin's plans are, but I do know that many many Brewers fans are fed up with Rickie Weeks. They have a saying "You can't spell Rickie Weeks without 3 E's and 2 K's."

That said, he is a pretty good player. You can make the argument that he is as solid or even better than Lopez (depending on what you value), and his great OBP numbers despite his poor BA can't be ignored.

But his time with Milwaukee could be running short. You may remember that they brought in Ray Durham mid-season to try and get him motivated. Could it be time for a change? Maybe.

I have no problem moving Lopez. He does have some potential with the bat, but his range at second base is getting worse by the year and it was a giant turn off when he used the media several different times to complain about playing first base. He's still incredibly young, but I don't believe he should be a foundation of his team, and I wouldn't mind trading him while his value is up.

@ The Kid: I would love to get Furcal. He's a great fit for this team and the fact that there would be no draft pick compensation makes it even more enticing. That said, I really don't see him coming to Seattle. I think he sticks with LA.

I'm for doing what it takes to get Hardy. I would like to keep Lopez, because I don't think Valbuena's bat will heat up enough to stay at the major league level for an extended period, but if that's what it takes, so be it.

To: The Kid
Furcal is going to have a pretty high asking price, pushing him out of the Mariners budget, most likely. He wouldn't be a bad move though.

Where would Lopez play for the Brewers? Weeks is solid at 2nd for them,,I think they do need pitching, but I would rather go for Rafeal Furcal and put him at short and batting second, with Yuni to 2nd base and Lopez at first. Possibility?
