Only 5'9" 165 lbs. When he was in high school he was hitting 95 on the radar gun but seemed to lose velocity over the next couple of years. He's gained some of it back but he's been pitching too much the past year with the World Championships and University Games. He now sits around 90 and can touch 92-93 but at only 20 years old he's still a pretty good prospect. He also has a decent slider and forkball. Looks like the Rangers are the only other team in the running for him. Like I said, it wouldn't cost all the much to sign him. The latest I've heard was Yomiuri is offering him $100K. At those prices it's worth the gamble to me. We could've signed Ni Fu Te last year, but he went to the Tigers and pitched pretty well. I hope we can get this kid. I don't know if the M's are willing to pay more, but when you get into a bidding war these days with the likes of the Yanks or Red Sox you're probably going to end up overpaying.
