Do You Believe in Miracles?

Miguel Batista, RHP- An NL club has already expressed interest in Batista as a middle reliever and spot starter, though it’s likely to cost the M’s a few million towards the right-hander’s $9 million salary in 2009.
Who would have ever thought?
I dunno how much stock to put in this because we all laugh at the idea of being able to move Batista, but I suppose it can make some sense. Batista is a semi-effective reliever and his stuff gets played up with a move to the NL. If we can move him I’m all for it, even if we have to pay half his salary. Any actual player we get in return is just gravy.
Obviously this NL team– if real– is not a smart team if they think Batista is a better value than some kid they have in AAA making league minimum or some guy they could pick up off the waiver wire. Many teams took advantage of the Mariners under Bill Bavasi, so maybe this can be our first role reversal.
For some reason this cracks me up.

Isn’t the guy responsible for that contract with the Reds now?
With Ryan Franklin as their closer Batista somehow makes sense.
Please BB fall on that grenade.
