Dickey and White Cleared from 40-Man

R.A. Dickey and Sean White have been taken off the 40-man roster and were outrighted to the minor leagues, per Larry LaRue.

White really had no place on the roster, and it was a surprise that he lasted this long.  Dickey can choose to become a free agent rather than heading back to Tacoma, as Jake Woods did.

Dickey was versatile and fans loved the knuckleball, but Seattle doesn’t have a ton of room for him.  Miguel Batista figures to become Seattle’s next swingman.  The role could also go to a rule-5 starter, such as Donald Veal.

GM Jack Zduriencik has something up his sleeves for the Winter Meetings.  The 40-man roster now has four vacancies.

I dislike Miguel Batista with the white-hot passion of a thousand burning suns. I will now spend my Friday night unemployed, drinking, and mourning the possible loss of one of my favorite pitchers. :/
