This is a fairly random question, but since I’ve never paid this close attention to off-season stuff, I don’t have any background – are the winter meetings where we should see some actual moves/offers made?

Still looking forward to what GMZ can do at the MLB level, still looking for that first trade!

Yes. At the Winter Meetings all the GMs, agents, and other important people are in the same hotel for a week or so. A lot of trades and signings typically go down. And it’s in Vegas this year, so expect some fun drunken trades ;)

Not for all teams though. A lot of times the Meetings are used to get framework for future deals in place.

Last Winter Meetings there were 10 trades and 6 free agent signings. In 2006 there were 4 trades and 10 free agent signings. And, as I mentioned, a lot gets done immediately following the Meetings.

Even if very little happens, the Winter Meetings is peak season for rumor fiends, so it’ll be interesting.

^ What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas unless it was signing Teixera for 10 years 150 million and trading 5 prospects for a pitcher.
