Teixiera to Play in Pinstripes

by Jon ~ December 23rd, 2008 at 12:40 pm

I had a feeling this would happen.  Top free agent Mark Teixeira was rumored to be going to either the Washington Nationals or Boston Red Sox, but the New York Yankees swooped in at the last second to steal him away from their AL East rivals while continuing the most expensive offseason ever.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Seattle would have benefited from Teixiera going to the Nationals.  Either way, I’m glad to see him off the market, because the secondary free agents will start falling into place after Christmas and we’ll have a better idea of what GM Jack Zduriencik is planning.

^Don’t count on it. I believe there is a three Type-A free agent limit, and the Wankees have already signed Burnett, CC and Tex.

I would have preferred the Nationals as well

But just think how much sweeter the Yankees post season choke will be next season!!!
