Ryan Rowland-Smith is the coolest Seattle Mariner.
As mentioned in the last post, I woke up with baseball, and more specifically, Barry Bonds on the brain, so allow me to get this off my chest.
Bonds did steroids, sure, whatever– but there is one area of attack that has always bugged me.
This one:
Last night I dreamed about baseball. I was practicing with someone who I recognized as a San Francisco Giants great, but I’m not really sure who it was. I think it morphed from Kevin Mitchell to Bobby Bonds to Barry Bonds (one of these is not like the others), though it’s a little fuzzy. Anyways, [...]
M’s sign Josh Bard and Chad Cordero to minor league deals with Spring Training invites
Apparently the Seattle Mariners aren’t confident in Eliezer Alfonzo being their “veteran presence” behind the plate, and have brought in Bard. I figure Cordero is being brought back as a courtesy more than anything. He showed very little last season while [...]
Name this Mariner (top 20) prospect:
According to a Ken Rosenthal tweet, the Seattle Mariners have traded Brandon Morrow to the Toronto Blue Jays for reliever Brandon League and a prospect.
The prospect has to be a great one, because while League is a very solid reliever you have to think GM Jack Zduriencik could get more value for Morrow.
So who is [...]
The Seattle Mariners have acquired DH/OF Milton Bradley from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for RHP Carlos Silva and $6M.
This always seemed like a possibility, especially after the Cubs failed to find serious suitors elsewhere, but I’m still in disbelief.
Obviously this is a good move for Seattle. The Mariners move Silva, who was their worst [...]
I’m still not sure what’s going on with this site, but can’t sleep and feel like writing. I don’t feel like writing about Cliff Lee or any recent rumors, so here is a quick rundown of the state of the farm by position, focusing on where guys are rather than ranking them. All of those [...]
Ryan Divish, Tacoma News Tribune, regarding Seattle’s latest minor league signing, Pedro Okuda:
Okuda was born and raised in Marília, Brazil, but attended Honjo Daiichi High School in Saitama, Japan. Engle and Hide Sueyoshi first scouted him in a youth tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil in May 2006.
Forget the actual skills (“line drive swing and plus [...]
Pro Ball NW / Bleeding Blue and Teal
When I decided to quite blogging I couldn’t think of any reason outside of appeasing the readership to keep the site going through a hectic ‘real life’ schedule. But the flurry of Seattle Mariners activity this offseason has reminded me of one of the main reasons I started [...]
