Moves

by ~ Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

No time today to read through everything, but I think I’ve got the jist. Erik Bedard → 15-day DL Jack Hannahan → 15-day DL Luke French → Optioned to AAA Tacoma Chad Cordero → Reassigned to minor league camp Is Jesus Colome the last pitcher standing? Unless I missed something, I don’t remember him being [...]

Sweeney Beats Garko, With a Twist

by ~ Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Mike Sweeney has made the team in favor of Ryan Garko, as expected.  Unexpectedly, the Seattle Mariners look like they’re opting to place Garko on waivers, rather than optioning him to AAA. Argh. The logic, as presented by Dave Cameron on Twitter, might be to let some other team claim Garko and his ~$500K contract [...]

40-man, Player by Player: Dustin Ackley

by ~ Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Browse entire “40-man, Player by Player” series here. Previous entry: Adam Moore.  Next up, Mike Carp. Dustin Ackley’s bat will almost certainly play in the big leagues.  Being the consensus top college hitter in last year’s draft, he’s about as safe a bet as you’ll find offensively.  He’s not a guarantee, but based on what [...]

40-man, Player by Player: Adam Moore

by ~ Monday, March 29th, 2010

Browse entire “40-man, Player by Player” series here. Previous entry: Rob Johnson.  Next up, Dustin Ackley. Adam Moore has been one of my favorite minor leaguers in the Seattle Mariners organization for a little while now.  I was already an established fan when he finally made his way to Tacoma last season, but once I [...]

Roster Shaping Up

by ~ Friday, March 26th, 2010

Geoff Baker has a few quotes from Don Wakamatsu wrapping up a couple position battles.  Neither were big surprises, but it’s nice to see some (more) confirmation. Rob Johnson and Adam Moore will be the Opening Day catchers as long as Johnson doesn’t have a set back.  Josh Bard is being kept around just in [...]

40-man, Player by Player: Rob Johnson

by ~ Friday, March 26th, 2010

Browse entire “40-man, Player by Player” series here. Previous entry: Sean White.  Next up, Adam Moore. Rob Johnson is a polarizing figure among Seattle Mariner fans.  You either love him or you hate him.  In the blogosphere especially it can feel pretty anti-Johnson at times. And I get some of it.  He was embarrassingly bad [...]

Carp Cut, Petit Re-Signed

by ~ Thursday, March 25th, 2010

A couple quick roster moves to announce today. Mike Carp was optioned to AAA Tacoma.  There was a 0% chance he made the club out of Spring Training, so no surprise there.  I still like Carp slightly more than most, but he has to add something to his game to become a legitimate starter at [...]
