Still on a high from their four days in Nashville, a few baseball reporters spent the day churning out more hot stove rumors than you'd otherwise expect on a Friday. With the way things are moving the Seattle Mariners' chances of landing Josh Hamilton seem to be getting better by the day, but Friday also linked a few new names to the Emeralds.
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners are in on free agent outfielder Cody Ross. Pro Ball NW's Griffin Klett wrote about Ross as a possible target for the Mariners back in October.
CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler reports that the Mariners have been in touch with the Colorado Rockies regarding center fielder Dexter Fowler. The 26-year-old is under club control through 2015 and is coming off a season in which he hit .300/.389/.474.
The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports that the Mariners and Chicago White Sox have had discussions revolving around outfielder Dayan Viciedo and, from the Mariners' side, prospects. Viciedo hit 25 home runs in his first full big league season but is very much a work in progress.
ESPN.com's Jayson Stark is the most recent to link the Mariners to Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Dee Gordon.
