Jesus Montero linked to brewing Bosch PED scandal

Keith Allison via Flickr The New York Daily News is reporting that Mariners catcher Jesus Montero has been "named in records from a South Florida anti-aging clinic linked to performance enhancing drugs." The clinic in question is, of course, Anthony Bosch's Miami based Biogenesis of America LLC. Bosch and the clinic have been accused of providing PED's to a number of prominent players in the last week, including Ryan Braun, Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera, Nelson Cruz, and Gio Gonzalez.

For the moment, the story is short on details with regards to Montero. I don't want to speculate too much on such a sensitive issue, but this is clearly bad news for both Montero and the Mariners. Steroid stigma rarely recedes with time, and any connection with Bosch right now is toxic. In another unfortunate tie-in, Montero is represented by Seth and Sam Levinson's agency, ACES, the same company that represents Cabrera, Cruz, and Gonzalez. We'll keep you up to date on the story.
